As expected, the Bulls picked up the fourth-year option for forward Taj Gibson, extending his contract through the 2012-13 season, the organization announced Wednesday.

Gibson, a first-round draft pick in 2009 and first team NBA all-rookie team selection in his debut season, has averaged 8.0 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in his first two NBA campaigns.

With the deadline to reach a new collective bargaining agreement Thursday, NBA teams must complete transactions before Friday's impending lockout.
